Lead qualification: what it means for a creative studio.
Lead qualification is the process of judging whether an inquiry is a good fit for a studio, based on the work wanted, the budget, the timeline and the likelihood of a deal.
What gets assessed
Qualifying a lead means deciding, quickly, whether it deserves your best attention. The usual tests are fit (is it the work you want), budget (is it in range), timeline (is it realistic for your calendar) and authority (is the sender the person who decides). A lead that fails one is not necessarily dead, but it should not jump the queue.
Why speed matters
Qualification should take minutes, not hours. The point is to protect your response time for the leads that matter. A simple three-tier sort is enough: hot leads are answered first and personally, warm leads next, cold leads briefly and politely. Writing down what a good-fit project looks like makes the sort faster and more consistent.
- Hot: strong fit, clear budget, a real deadline
- Warm: promising but missing detail
- Cold: low fit or low urgency
- Not a fit: set aside politely
The common mistake
Studios often qualify by gut feeling and by how recently the message arrived, which favours loud enquiries over valuable ones. A consistent set of questions beats instinct, especially when you are busy.
Where Viznerve fits
This is exactly what inquiry triage does. Viznerve reads every inbound inquiry, scores it hot, warm, cold or not a fit using what you told it about your studio, and drafts the reply. Not-a-fit messages are labelled and set aside, never deleted. See also stop losing inquiries.
