Revision rounds: what it means for a creative studio.

Revision rounds are the agreed number of times a client can request changes to a deliverable before further changes are priced separately.

What counts as a round

A revision round is one batch of consolidated feedback from the client, followed by one set of changes from the studio. The word "consolidated" matters. Three emails from three people on the same day are one round if they arrive as a single list, and three rounds if each one is answered separately.

Why they need a number

Without a stated limit, revisions have no natural end. Each change is reasonable on its own, but a project with no cap can absorb weeks of unpaid work. Naming the number in the scope of work, commonly two or three at each stage, protects the schedule and the margin.

Making rounds work well

Ask for feedback in one document, from one decision-maker where possible. Say what a round covers: refinements within the agreed direction, not a change of direction. A new direction is better handled as a change order.

  • Define the number of rounds per stage, not for the project as a whole
  • Name a single point of contact for feedback
  • Explain how extra rounds are priced

Where Viznerve fits

The revision allowance belongs in the quote. Viznerve drafts the quote from the inquiry and your studio profile, and you confirm the allowance before it is sent. For studios that deliver visuals on deadlines, see Viznerve for architecture visualization studios.
